Local Halloween Contests: Pumpkin Carving & Dogs In Costume

Looking for a rewarding way to get into the Halloween spirit in Park Slope? A couple local businesses are hosting contests this week where you might scare up a prize for yourself!

Backyard (388 5th Avenue) is hosting a pumpkin carving contest all week. For $10 you get a pumpkin that’s prepped for carving, tools, hot apple cider, and of course, the jack-o-lantern to take home, and you’ll be entered into their contest for a $50 gift certificate. Head over to their Facebook page to vote for your favorite!

Meanwhile Teddy (202 5th Ave) is hosting a Halloween costume contest for dogs! From now until Halloween, bring your costume-clad canine into their new location for a chance to win one item from the store (up to a $100 value). They’ll post a photo of the costumed pup on Facebook and then take a poll to see which dog’s costume is the cutest/most creative.
