Although grand larceny leads local crime reports in both the 72nd and 78th precincts, two notable assaults stand out on the blotter in recent weeks.

On July 23, a 51-year-old man was arrested for felony assault after allegedly kicking, hitting, choking and then throwing a glass at the head of his female companion on 14th Street. The woman was taken to New York Methodist Hospital for treatment. (DNAinfo)

On July 28, a 20-year-old man was taken to Lutheran Medical Center after sustaining two stab wounds on 7th Avenue and 20th Street. The attack occurred after the victim attempted to break up a fight at nearby Greenwood Park, according to Home Reporter News. Police arrested two men, ages 25 and 27 in connection with the attack.
