Live Music (Slowly But Surely) Returns To Sycamore

Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster), local bands, and south Brooklyn music lovers were dealt a big blow back in June when the bar’s downstairs music venue was shuttered, and only DJs like Names You Can Trust and Slim Hug (who, as you may have guessed from his moniker, doesn’t require much space), have been playing on the ground floor since.

The good news is, Sycamore has found a way to bring live acts back–this Saturday night at 8, for instance, NYCT will be joining forces with La Mecanica Popular in Stems Flower Shop. Sycamore Managing Partner John Hagan says they’ll just be starting out with sporadic live music events, but working up to a more consistent schedule of shows in the future.

We’re so glad Sycamore is making this work, that bands have another place to play at our end of Brooklyn again, and, selfishly, that we can go back and enjoy live music at the bar. Hooray!
