This year’s series kicks off on June 13 with a Family Jam featuring students from Dock Street Middle School and P.S. 307 (5pm). Fogo Azul will then take the stage followed by Congolese dancer/singer/musician/bandleader Nkumu Katalay and his Life Long Project Band and a DJ set by Kai Song.

Each week a small pop-up gallery set up beneath the Archway will feature the work of a different local artist who will be on hand to create a communal art project with attendees. Rose Nestler, an interdisciplinary artist focusing on sculpture and video, will be the featured artist on June 13.

A special celebration is scheduled on June 20 to honor the 10th anniversary of the iconic Archway. Performances will include the hula hoop troupe Big Sky Works; Young Soon WHITE WAVE Dance Company; world roots band Brown Rice Family; and the folk/alt-country group Jan Belle & The Maybelles. The evening will also feature video art projections by Light Year and Casey Opstad will be the featured artist.

June 27 will open with a family-friendly show by Puppetsburg followed by a performance by the salsa dura band Avenida B. Casey Opstad will once again be the featured artist of the evening.

“This summer, we celebrate two milestones in our community’s history—our fifth season of free Thursday evening summer arts programming at Live at the Archway, and the tenth anniversary of the Archway itself!” Alexandria Sica, Executive Director of the Dumbo Business Improvement District said in a release announcing the season’s lineup. “We look forward to welcoming neighbors and visitors to the Archway this summer to relax, enjoy some wonderful music and art, and visit one of the most magical settings in New York City!”

Presented by the DUMBO Business Improvement District, the Live At The Archway series celebrates  the neighborhood’s commitment to the arts, hosting a diverse lineup of music, dance, and visual art events each summer. The Archway is located on Water Street between Adams Street and Anchorage Place. The free festivities begin at 5:30pm (unless otherwise noted) every Thursday from June 13 through August 29.
