As part of National Voter Registration Day the New York Public Library is doing their party by allowing residents to register at any of their branches today!

Make sure to check your local library’s hours and make your way through today if you are: 18 years old, a U.S. Citizen and have lived in the city for at least 30 days.

“We are the most democratic institution in the borough,” said Linda E. Johnson, Brooklyn Public Library President. “Every day of the year, we provide a welcoming space for all of Brooklyn—families, job seekers, older adults, veterans, immigrants, teens, entrepreneurs—to follow their dreams, find their voices, and become engaged citizens.”

The drive is a national effort to increase voting ahead of the midterms, and in the city, is a joint effort between the NYPL and the New York City Campaign Finance Board. Those registering today will also be encouraged to sign up for library cards, according to the NYPL.

If you can’t make it to a library branch today, applications are due in-person by October 12, or postmarked by that date, so long as they arrive by October 17, according to the Board of Elections.

Midterm elections will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2018.
