A new cafe and bakery has come to 7th Avenue, finally filling the void left by La Botaneria earlier this year.

Fresh-faced, French, and with almost all organic products, Les Deux Amis (427 7th Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets) started serving customers on Monday.

We spotted the cafe and bakery readying itself at the end of November, and they’ve put together a friendly, petit, and neighborhood-oriented place.

“The neighborhood is awesome,” says manager Mehdi Metidji. “We’ve been giving out free samples. People are coming by to say hi. We’re very glad to be here.”

We arrived to see array of sweets, breads, and sandwiches. On this chilly, cloudy day, the baguettes were fresh and warm.

“The pastries we serve are authentically French,” explains Metidji. “And our products are organic — the coffee, milk, cane sugar.”

The cafe has a small area for seating, and WiFi will be up and running in a matter of days. Meanwhile, you can enjoy your macarons, petit fours, chocolate truffles, and coffee as soon as you stop in.

Les Deux Amis Coffee & Bakery is located at 427 7th Avenue (between 14th and 15th Streets). It’s currently open everyday from 7am-7pm but will soon extend hours until 9pm after the new year.
