Leiby Kletzky Security Initiative Brings Cameras to Local Areas

The Leiby Kletzky Security Initiative is bringing 150 security cameras to Borough Park, and parts of Ditmas Park, Kensington, and Midwood to increase security in the area following the brutal murder of the 8-year-old boy last summer. Assemblyman Dov Hikind worked with Jewish community leaders to identify locations for the cameras, which will be funded by a $1 million state grant and which are expected to be installed this fall:

These include commercial districts, schools and institutions, as well as residential areas. The area is bounded by 60th Street to McDonald Avenue, 9th Avenue to 20th Avenue in Borough Park, McDonald Avenue to Ocean Avenue, and Foster Avenue to Avenue U in Midwood. Surveillance cameras will be mounted at major intersections. Camera output will be accessed by private volunteer organizations and can be reviewed by authorized police officials.

This map shows the areas mentioned, and the markers show the places where Leiby was last seen, and where accused murdered Levi Aaron was caught by police.
