Having left Clinton Hill over a year ago, the saga of the Salvation Army will come to an end in Gowanus, according to DNAinfo.

DNAinfo reported that the Salvation Army plans to turn a 20,000 square-foot space in at 109 Second Ave. (between 10th and 11th Streets) in Gowanus into its central distribution center come a year after it sold its old space at 22 Quincy Street (between Classon Avenue and Downing Street) in Clinton Hill for a reputed $30 million.

The decision to leave Clinton Hill involved the changing nature of the neighborhood.

“That neighborhood has certainly become much more residential than in years past, so we’re trying to be good neighbors and give them their space. When we run a second shift or graveyard shift, we can make some noise,” explained the Salvation Army’s Maj. Joe Irvine to DNAinfo.

Irvine also told DNAinfo that the construction will add “a floor and a third” to the space in Gowanus.
