Learn How To Fight For Affordable Housing At The Equality For Flatbush Meeting Tomorrow Night
Equality for Flatbush, a grassroots organization working to preserve affordable housing and prevent the displacement of neighbors from their longtime homes, as well as on a variety of other social justice initiatives, is holding its next meeting tomorrow, October 14, at the Flatbush Library (22 Linden Boulevard) from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
The group, founded by neighbor Imani Henry, describes itself as a “people of color-led grassroots organization which does anti-police repression, affordable housing, and anti-gentrification organizing in Flatbush and East Flatbush,” that seeks to organize people “for social change and justice through street outreach, social media campaigns, political advocacy, and direct action.”
All are welcome to attend tomorrow’s gathering, at which neighbors will be able to learn about what others are doing in the community, as well as share housing, legal, and organizing resources.
“We believe that all of us – longtime and new residents, communities of color and white communities, low-income and middle-class people – must work together in this urgent struggle to save affordable housing in Brooklyn, the group said on a flyer posted around our area.
