After 10 years of planning, the Junction will finally see work begin this summer on its streetscape beautification project, which you can see an overview of above. Patti Hoff from the Flatbush Nostrand Junction BID and representatives from the Economic Development Corporation presented some updated details about the project to Community Board 14 last week, including:
• Many new trees will be planted as part of the project–the contractor is responsible for their care for a couple of years following the project–and existing trees in the area will get new tree pits.
• Pedestrian access to businesses, residences, and public transportation will not be obstructed during construction.
• The project will begin hopefully this July, and is expected to be complete in the summer of 2013.
The public is welcome to learn more about the project at an informal meeting on Wednesday, June 20 at 6pm at Crystals Bar and Lounge, 1458 Flatbush Avenue. If you have any questions, you can contact the BID at firstname.lastname@example.org or 347-279-6249, or check for updates about the project on their Facebook page.
