The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship is underway (that’s soccer for all us Americans), and local singer/songwriter John Munnelly, aka LaughJohnLaugh, just released a song hoping to raise the spirits of his fellow fans and countrymen.
“I’m Irish, and Ireland is in a huge soccer competition right now,” he said. “This is a wildly over optimistic supporters’ song about the manager who’s a quirky Italian called Trapattoni!”
Giovanni Trapattoni is known for his unusual style and sayings, including, as is shown in John’s video above: “Be careful the cat! No say the cat is in the sac when you have not the cat in the sac.”
You can check out the song in the video above, which was shot live at 773 Lounge, and it’s also available on iTunes.
As for Ireland in Euro 2012, they take on current European and world champions Spain tomorrow.
