The weather’s been so warm it might be hard to believe, but we’re rushing headlong into winter, which means it’s time to gear up for indoor activities — and to savor those outdoor ones while we’ve got a chance!

This Wednesday, November 11 is Veterans Day, and it’s also your last chance to take a ride on the historic Prospect Park carousel before it shuts down for the winter, only to reopen in April.

The ride is made up of 53 horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer, and two dragon-pulled chariots that were carved in 1912 by Charles Carmel and restored by the Prospect Park Alliance in 1990 — and again, more recently, by the carousel doctor himself, ahead of its 100th anniversary.

The carousel costs $2 per ride, or $9 for a book of five tickets; a Family Plus membership allows for free, unlimited rides.

If you head out for one more ride, don’t forget to tag #citykidcorner in your pics! You may just see your photo featured on our site.
