Last Chance to Enter the GAP Greenmarket Apple Pie Bake-Off

Think you’ve got what it takes to bake a prize-winning apple pie? Find out this Saturday, October 20 by entering the annual apple pie bake-off at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket. The winner will receive a big prize bag of market goods, bragging rights and your recipe featured at the Greenmarket info tent through the holidays. And we’ll congratulate you here on the blog as well!

Drop-off time is before 10:30am on Saturday, which is when the judging takes place by a panel of farmers and culinary professionals. And if you’re more of a pie eater than a pie baker, be sure to stop by the market around then, because once the judges have tasted, shoppers are welcome to try the pies.

The only rule is that you have to use local apples. If you’d like to compete, email Market Manager Samantha Blatteis at sblatteis@greenmarket.grownyc.org before Saturday morning, and then start baking!
