Lahori Gyro Closed, Sultan Grill Coming Soon

The Lahori Gyro place at 739 Coney Island Avenue, next to the bright green wall near Cortelyou Road, is closed, and a sign says Sultan Grill & Fried Chicken will replace it.

Also known as Gyro King (but not affiliated with the two Gyro Kings further south, on Newkirk Plaza and on Foster at CIA), it always seemed like a fairly popular spot. It was far less popular when they were distributing bright green menus in the fall of 2010, most of which ended up strewn around the neighborhood.

We’re not sure why they closed, or if the same owners are just revamping, but we’ll update if we hear anything.
