We hope you’re getting ready to have a relaxing Labor Day weekend, whether you’re planning one last hurrah with the kids before school starts, some time alone at the beach or simply recognizing the sacrifices made by our country’s workers. Enjoy, and keep in mind the holiday changes below.

Info on government offices, parking, and sanitation via nyc.gov:

Government offices and courts are closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. There will be no mail delivery.
Alternate side parking is suspended and you do not have to pay the parking meter. No stopping, no standing and no parking regulations are suspended except where those regulations are in effect anytime or seven days a week.
There is no garbage or recycling pickup. If Monday is your garbage day, put out your garbage after 5:00 PM Monday evening.  If Monday is your recycling day, wait until next week to put out your recycling.

Subways and Buses

While all trains will be running on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day (remember that means no B), the MTA is adding extra trains today to help you get out of town–so go!

Libraries

All branches of the Brooklyn Public Library will be closed Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2.

Banks:

  • Bank of America (515 Ocean Ave. on the corner of Church Ave.) will be closed.
  • Sovereign Bank (23 Newkirk Plaza on the corner of Foster) will be closed.
  • Chase Bank (1509 Foster Ave. between Marlborough and Newkirk Plaza) will be closed.
  • However,  TD Bank (210 Prospect Park Southwest between Park Circle and Greenwood Ave.) will be open.
