Kim’s Grocery Under New Ownership, Closed For Renovations

As neighbor Amy, who wrote to us to ask about the situation, noticed recently, Kim’s Grocery at 313 7th Avenue, between 8th and 9th Streets, has been intermittently open for the past week or so. It seems it will remained closed now, though, as they do some “minor renovations” to the interior, according to permits filed with the Department of Buildings.

However, when they reopen, you may not see the same faces behind the counter. The folks next door at 7th Ave Copy & Office Supplies told us that the owner of Kim’s decided to retire after about 30 years in business, and that there are new owners now, who apparently plan to keep the space much the same as it was, but may add some food prep.

We’re sorry we never got a chance to get in there and share the owner’s story before he retired — don’t let us miss out on any potential gems in the neighborhood, anyone’s story that you think might be worth hearing. Let us know your suggestions be emailing editor@bklyner.com.
