Key Food On 5th Saga Continues As Neighbor Leaves Note About Stinky, Rotting Food
The Key Food on 5th Avenue at 12th Street has been mysteriously closed for a month, and now neighbors are voicing concerns about sanitary conditions in the space.
Neighbor Alice E. sent us this photo of a sign that went up on the building late last week, which says people in the building have been dealing with a stench and flies since the space closed in early October. It reads:
KEY FOOD,
Please clean out therottingfood
that has been smelling up the entire building and causing an infestation of flies. This has been going on for the last month. Do something!
Thanks,
People who share the building with you.
Alice notes that “at first there were trucks at night picking up food but I haven’t seen that in weeks.”
The supermarket, which hasn’t always had fans in our area due to poor quality food and empty shelves, blamed its closure initially on a power outage, but then posted a simple sign saying it would re-open in November. We’ve reached out to Key Food for additional information, but have yet to receive a response.
If you live in that building, or nearby, how’s it been going? And have you received any response from the management about the situation?
