Fabulous news for those who hate to waste: as of yesterday, New Yorkers can now recycle hard plastic items including rigid lids, packaging, housewares, and more. The move is set to save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars per year (money that previously went to shipping hard plastics), and should make banning or severely-restricting the use of polystyrene containers much easier.
We’re definitely excited about this! If you are, too, read more about the new recycling changes and politicians’ plans for waste in NY at Gothamist.
