July 4th Events In Brooklyn
The 4th of July is just around the corner! Catch the fireworks, spend the day with the family in Prospect Park, or enjoy some music. Plus, this year the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks will be visible from the Brooklyn Bridge Park—be sure to plan ahead and get there early.
CONEY ISLAND’S 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION at various locations, 10am-12am [Various prices]: Celebrate Independence Day on Coney Island. Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park, Luna Park NYC, and the New York Aquarium will be open all day! The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest will kick off the day at 10am, while the Brooklyn Cyclones take on the Aberdeen IronBirds at 6pm. The Steeplechase Spectacular Fireworks show wraps up the festivities beginning at 9:50pm.
INDEPENDENCE DAY IN PROSPECT PARK, 12pm to 5pm [Various prices]: Join the Prospect Park Alliance for family-friendly programming to celebrate two Independence Days: America’s independence from England in 1776 and the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans in New York in 1827. Plus enjoy a nature exploration at the Prospect Park Audubon Center or a ride on the Carousel.
INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN ARTS FESTIVAL at Commodore Barry Park, through July 7, 3:30pm [Tickets start at $10]: Since 1971, the IAA Festival has been a part of the Brooklyn cultural landscape, transforming a city park into an outdoor African cultural oasis that celebrates traditional and contemporary expressions of various African cultures. Plus, the African marketplace offers an array of handcrafted merchandise such as jewelry, traditional and urban fashion, body oils, and much more.
ELSEWHERE 4TH OF JULY at Elsewhere Rooftop, 2pm [Tickets begin at $20]: Celebrate the 4th dancing with performances and DJ sets by JD Samson, Photay, Rimarkable, and Kfeelz B2B DJ Raqx.
ART DEPARTMENT 4TH OF JULY PARTY at Soccerroof, 4pm [Tickets start at $45]: Soccerroof’s rooftop terrace and lounge offer the ideal setting for views of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Get the perfect view of this year’s 4th of July fireworks while enjoying performances by Duddha, Gui Machado and more.
THE DAY PARTY WITH J.COLE at the Brooklyn Mirage, 4pm [Tickets begin at $39]: Spend the day enjoying a performance by J.Cole at Avant Gardner’s Brooklyn Mirage. The open-air venue will also include performances by DJ Spade and DJ Moma.
MACY’S 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, fireworks begin at 9:20pm [Free]: Catch spectacular views of the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks from Brooklyn Bridge Park. Fireworks will be launched off four barges located in the East River between Pier 1 and Pier 6. Viewers will also be able to tune into 1010 WINS to hear the score as the show happens. Entry points/NYPD bag checkpoints into Brooklyn Bridge Park on the 4th will be at: Furman Street and Joralemon Street; Furman Street and Old Fulton Street; New Dock Street and Water Street; and Atlantic Avenue and Bridge Park Drive.
