Join Your Neighbors For A Mela On Church Avenue This Sunday
Setting up

If by chance you missed the Church Avenue celebration of the Bangladeshi New Year a couple of Sundays ago, never fear. The Chittagong Association of North America is hosting its own “Boishakhi Mela,” (mela means street fair) this Sunday from 2pm to 8 pm on McDonald Avenue, from Church Avenue to Avenue C.  Once again the occasion is the arrival of the Bengali New Year 1422.

Politicians and performers, as well as vendors of food, cloth and clothes, jewelry, medical plans, and more will line McDonald Avenue culminating in the stage rising at Avenue C. Among the expected electeds are Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, U.S. Congressman Jerome (Jerry) Nadler, of 10th Congressional District; state Assemblyman Jim Brennan, of the 44th Assembly District; and Scott M. Stringer, the city Comptroller.
