Whiskey buffs have flocked to Sycamore for over five years to test the limits of bartenders’ knowledge on the bar’s huge selection, and now with Clay Risen‘s American Whiskey, Bourbon & Rye: A Guide to the Nation’s Favorite Spirit, they can carry that knowledge wherever they go.

Risen, who has written about beer and spirits for The Atlantic since 2009, will be signing copies of his new tome at Sycamore (1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads) this coming Monday, January 27, at 8pm. The book provides tasting notes and other information on over 200 US-made whiskeys, including standards like Jim Beam and Jack Daniel’s alongside harder-to-find small batches.

No worries if you can’t make it to this Monday’s signing–Risen will also be conducting two “flowerside chats” about the book on Mondays February 24 and March 24 at 8pm.

One way or another, you’ll likely have an opportunity to glean info from a pro–so you can play the expert even if for some weird reason you go whiskey drinking outside of Ditmas Park.
