Join Sustainable Flatbush For Two Free Workshops On Saturday, September 27
Sustainable Flatbush is holding two free workshops on Saturday, one on herbal medicine preparation at 10am and the second on how to prepare for the upcoming cold and flu season at 12pm. Both events will be held at the group’s herbal healing garden at the Flatbush Reformed Church (East 21st Street at Kenmore Terrace).
Sustainable Flatbush is partnering with Sacred Vibes Apothecary to offer the workshops. For the workshop on herbal medicine preparation, there will be a discussion on some of the most common forms of plant medicine – and participants will also get a chance to make some.
Those who plan on attending the first workshop are asked to bring two empty two ounce jars (they note that baby food jars work well) so you can take some medicine home with you.
Saturday’s second workshop will include Karen Rose, owner of Sacred Vibes Apothecary, discussing how to prepare our bodies for the cold and flu season.
“The sun’s light is shifting and a slight chill now greets us at dawn and at dusk,” Sustainable Flatbush writes on its website. This is the time to prepare our bodies for the coming cold. We will discuss the ways in which herbs can help to nourish and strengthen our bodies and discuss herbal first-aid for the fall and winter months.”
All participants will have a chance to make an elderberry tincture to bring home with them.
The group notes that it’s important to them that their workshops are accessible as possible. All the outdoor workshops are held in a space with no steps or stairs, but not all the walkways are paved. If you have accessibility concerns or needs, please email kate.florence@gmail.com
To RSVP, or if you have any other questions, also send an email to kate.florence@gmail.com.
