On Monday, January 20 at 6:30pm, join Prospect Farm at Brooklyn Commune (601 Greenwood Ave) as the community garden launches its new monthly film and discussion series, Food Matters.

The first event will feature a screening of the documentary The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil, which shows how Cuba successfully transitioned from a highly mechanized, industrial agricultural system dependent on oil, to one using organic, renewable methods of farming and local cooperative urban gardens.

Guests Tom Angotti, professor of urban studies at CUNY and founder of Prospect Farm, and Kady Ferguson, executive director of the Brooklyn Food Coalition, will be on hand to host a discussion of the film.

This event is free, and all are welcome.
