Former Bishop Kearney Valedictorian Wins $23K On Jeopardy!
By Edona Ahmetaj
Bishop Kearney High School alumna Laura Gallo won Jeopardy! last month, following a long and challenging battle of wits.
After playing the iconic game show for two days – first coming in first place, and then second place – Laura won a total prize amount of $22,999 on February 26, and she intends to use her winnings towards her honeymoon with her husband.
The former valedictorian of Bishop Kearney’s Class of 2000 continued her education at the College of William and Mary and the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. Fifteen years later, Laura is an Internal Medicine Staff Physician and Medical Director of an inpatient ward in a hospital at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia.
As a Kearney student myself, it is inspiring to see a Bishop Kearney graduate who has embodied and carried on the values and qualities that are instilled the moment you walk through the doors of Bishop Kearney. We are the women who shape the future.
On behalf of the Kearney student body, I’d like to congratulate Major Laura Gallo and wish her the best of luck in the future!
