Jacobs Holds Participatory Budget Forum September 10th
During a recent interview with her (look for the post soon!), Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs told us that she would be holding a forum modeled after the City Council Participatory Budget hearings we’ve been seeing so much about. This is not a formal voting process like that of the City Council; rather, Jacobs has some discretionary funds and wants to hear how the community thinks it should be allocated. From her office:
Assemblywoman Jacobs needs your input in the distribution of capital funding and “multi-modal” funding for street-level and transportation improvements. Do you have ideas for the community? Does your community-nonprofit organization need capital funding? Come and offer your input, ideas and participation! We need you!
Here’s the pertinent info:
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2012
7:00PM-9:00PM
HOSTED BY P.S. 152
725 EAST 23 STREET
BETWEEN CAMPUS AND GLENWOOD ROADS
As far as we know, Jacobs is the first state official to try this, so show up and bring your thoughts! Also make sure to bring any concerns or encouragements about participatory budgeting itself.
Speaking of, how ’bout it? Is this a good idea?
