Is This The End Of 5th Ave Delicatess Sign?

Unfortunately, there are no new permits found on the Department of Buildings website for 648 5th Ave, so we’re a bit in the dark on this one. The gate was up, though, and the property was being cleaned out, so there definitely appears to be something going on.
Is it just us, or is the possibility of construction somewhat bittersweet? Yes, it’s always nice to see new life in the neighborhood, but we’ve got such a soft spot for that old delicatessen sign.
Anyone out there have the construction scoop?
