More Info On Monday’s Arrest On Dekalb Avenue

FORT GREENE – After barricading himself in a Dekalb Avenue building on Monday afternoon, police arrested 42-year-old Dhiraj Arora for aggravated harassment, a NYPD representative told BKLYNER on Wednesday.

Arora was reportedly verbally harassing customers at Dosa Royale located at 258 Dekalb Avenue, saying he would “shoot and kill” staff and patrons, according to the officer.

Arora, who lives next door to the restaurant, barricaded himself in his residence Monday afternoon (September 25) but police were able to arrest him without incident. The police rep said that Arora has a previous criminal record but would not provide details because the information is sealed.

An employee at Dosa Royale, who declined to give their name, confirmed that Arora got into an argument with a customer on Saturday afternoon (September 23) and followed the customer into the eatery. Arora left without a fight after employees asked him to leave, however he reportedly cursed at and verbally harassed people in front of the restaurant and along the block throughout the weekend. The employee says that Dosa Royale called 911 about the harassment twice over the weekend.

The employee adds that the restaurant had not experienced prior incidents with Arora but that he often appears drunk when walking around the neighborhood.

The employee also says that they do not believe his arrest on Monday was connected to the harassment, saying they heard it might have been in connection to a homicide. The NYPD representative would not confirm this.
