KENSINGTON – The popular Ave C Plaza has been celebrating its fourth season of hosting events for the Immigrant Heritage Month and all are welcome!

Ave C Plaza, located at Ave C and McDonald Avenue, kicked off the month-long event on June 1 with a cultural planting workshop and the summer reading launch. June is nationwide Immigrant Heritage Month, time to celebrate the different cultures and to “unify the community during a time of incredible divisiveness in the US,” organizers of the Ave C Plaza events say. In Kensington, the month is celebrated with painting classes, kite-making workshops, henna tutorials, and musical concerts. Below is a list of all the upcoming events.

“Kensington’s dynamic and diverse community is always inspiring to us and our work,” ArtBuilt Co-Executive Director Esther Robinson said. “The Kensington Cultural Council and our partners are dedicated to cultivating arts and cultural programming with and for various communities. It is exciting to now use our deep programming relationships to build collective neighborhood power.”

Organizer’s want you to know the events are all free and anyone, any age can come and have fun.

“I’m thrilled for Avenue C Plaza’s exciting summer lineup of events and programming that reflect the diverse and special community it serves,” Council Member Brad Lander said. “I’m proud every year to help fund the Plaza, and I look forward to attending many events this summer.”
