New York City launched its IDNYC program earlier this year — which is the city’s municipal ID program.

IDNYC has come to the John Jay High School Campus to run an enrollment “pop-up center” that will be open until Thursday, December 3.

IDNYC Pop-Up at John Jay High School Campus
237 7th Avenue (between 4th and 5th Streets)
Library (2nd Floor)
Appointments available from 3:30-6:00pm (Closed Thanksgiving).

It is necessary to make an appointment. In order to do so, click here, and choose “Brooklyn – John Jay High School” to reserve your time.

In addition to serving as a valid photo ID for all NYC agencies, the ID also can be used in order to open a checking account at Amalgamated Bank and a number of credit unions.

IDNYC also provides discounts to museum memberships and cultural institutions throughout the city — for the first year only. The time window on the one-year memberships is closing fast (in many cases, IDNYC holders need to activate a membership prior to January 1, 2016), so this is an excellent opportunity to get your ID now.

Be sure to make an appointment and bring proper documentation to show that you live in New York City.

The IDNYC John Jay Pop-Up is also focusing on high school students, who oftentimes do not have a picture ID. Students will be able to sign up for their IDs during the school day as well during regular enrollment times.

“Thanks to the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and the IDNYC team for reaching our students where they are,” says Council Member Brad Lander, who helped facilitate the pop-up. “I also greatly appreciate the principals of the schools in the John Jay building for working with these agencies and my office to welcome the program into the building. I’m thrilled to partner together in this event.”
