David A. Boody Intermediate School for Magnet Studies-I.S. 228 students along with professional entertainers will gather on stage for its fifth annual Lunar New Year celebration, in honor of the “Year of the Horse,” February 13 at 6:00 p.m. inside the school’s auditorium, 228 Avenue S.  Admission is free and Chinese food will be available.

The school’s Chinese Dancers, who have performed throughout the city, will headline the event — which will be narrated in English and Chinese — along with student musicians, the Hip Hop Dancers, Cheerleaders and famous Chinese Dance Troupe.

Boody’s Gravesend native Principal Dominick A. D’Angelo said that the celebration is one of the highlights of the school year. “This is an immigrant neighborhood,” he said. “When I was young, the immigrants were Italian. Now, many of them come from China. We want to honor the heritage of our new neighbors and share with them the joy and beauty of Lunar New Year.”
