Where to Get Gas in Ditmas Park Today

Where to Get Gas in Ditmas Park Today

The gas situation is still far from ideal today. The latest tool to find gas is from Gas Buddy. The site points out four open gas stations in our area: the Hess on 18th Avenue and Coney Island Avenue, the Beverley Shell, plus Sunoco and Mobil on Avenue I and Coney Island Avenue. Keep in mind that the information is not updated very regularly.

Our own survey of Coney Island Avenue shows a bit more than a map can. Wherever there is gas, there are lines of both people and vehicles, and the fact that it’s cold, rainy, and miserable out there isn’t helping the situation. At the Hess, we saw at least one little argument being mediated by cops. There were about 30 people standing in line, though that number was growing, when we passed by at about 12:30pm. At that time, the car line was a few blocks long.

The line at one of the stations on CIA at Avenue I took about 2 hours this morning according to one neighbor, who added that tensions ran high:

At the open Beverley Shell, the car line is twice as long at the one at the Hess, extending west down CIA and Beverley.

Elsewhere on CIA, the Gulf station that had been causing lines down Foster for the past few days is closed, as is the BP at Ditmas, the Mobil at Matthews, the Geo at Lewis, the and the two stations at Caton.

For anyone who does have gas, note that alternate side of the street parking rules are suspended through and including Tuesday, November 13, but you still need to put money in the meter.

Finally, the 70th Precinct sent out an alert about the nor’easter this morning, recommending that neighbors “stock up on essential food and water supplies if possible, and fuel your vehicles when you can (we know the lines are long!).”
