How Soon Is Too Soon for Valentine’s Day Flowers?

We spotted this display the other day at Shannon Nursery & Florist (hanging next to ‘day old’ Christmas wreaths, mind you) and wondered: Is it too early to think about Valentine’s Day flowers? (Is this a question that will be divided between the givers and the receivers?) If not flowers, what will you be giving your sweetheart?
