How Much It'll Cost To Skate At The LeFrak Center At Lakeside In Prospect Park

With the $74 million Lakeside project in Prospect Park set to open in just a few weeks, the Prospect Park Alliance and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation have announced prices, hours, and more details about the Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Center.

The two rinks feature more than 31,000 square feet of total surface (a 5,000-square-foot covered rink and an open-air elliptical rink that’s over 16,000 square feet) that will be available for hockey games, event rentals, lessons, and for people to just skate on.

The year-round skating and recreational facility will be operated by Upsilon Ventures, which also manages the ice skating facilities, holiday market, and more at Bryant Park.

SCHEDULE & SKATE RENTAL INFORMATION

Entry to the LeFrak Center will be free and open to the public, with an admission fee associated with skating and skating-related services. Group and non-profit rates apply and will be available online here, along with seasonal and annual passes, and rentals for other items such as helmets, lockers, and skate sharpening.Hours and pricing at the time of the opening:

Skating & Rentals

• Entry to the LeFrak Center, café, and restrooms is free

• Skating rink admission: $6 weekdays; $8 weekends and holidays

• Skate rentals: $5 per person

• Every Monday (excluding holidays), children 12 and under can enter the rink for free between 3-6pm for unlimited skating accompanied by an adult; the $5 skate rental charge applies

Rink & Concession Hours

• Monday-Thursday: 11am-6pm (for the holidays, from opening day-January 1, the rinks and concessions will remain open until 8pm)

• Friday and Saturday: 9am-10pm

• Sunday: 9am-8pm

Café Hours

Following the holiday week when the café will be open daily through January 1, standard hours will be:

• Friday and Saturday: 11am-10pm

• Sunday: 11am-8pm

• Monday-Thursday: closed

Seasonal Sports

• November-March: Ice skating and ice hockey

• April-October: Roller skating

• May-September: Water play area for children and families

Hockey

• The covered rink is available for hockey rental Monday-Thursday from 5-10:45am and 6:15pm-1am; Friday and Saturday from 5-8:45am and 10:15pm-1am; and Sunday from 5-8:45am and 8:15pm-1am. When not rented, the rink is open for public skate, lessons, and other rentals.

• 8-Week Basic Skills classes designed to teach or expand on the fundamentals of hockey will be offered for all skills and all ages.
