Yesterday we briefed you on the parking and mass transit changes scheduled for the holidays today, tomorrow and over the weekend. Below find notices about trash collection, schools and more.

Sanitation

The Department of Sanitation is picking up all garbage on all streets in Community Board 15 on Friday. Regardless of whether it’s your regularly scheduled garbage day, trucks will be going around collecting trash and recycling tomorrow morning (they may get a head start and begin late tonight). So place your garbage on the curb after 5pm today.

Additionally, there will be two public dumpsters placed at the following locations and removed before nightfall.

  • James Madison High School Sports Field – Quentin Road between East 27th and East 28th streets
  • In front of 2810 Nostrand Avenue, on the corner of Kings Highway and Nostrand Avenue

Schools

NYC public schools will be closed Friday, April 3 through Friday, April 10 for Spring Recess.

Government Offices

All government offices are open, including the Department of Motor Vehicles. Courts are also open and mail delivery follows a regular schedule.

Libraries

Some Brooklyn Public Library locations will be open on Friday, April 3, including the Brighton Beach, Kensington, Park Slope, Walt Whitman, and Windsor Terrace branches from 10am-6pm, and the Central branch from 9am-6pm. All BPL locations will be closed on Sunday, April 5.
