History At Home: This Day In The Brooklyn Daily Eagle

On this day in 1900, 3rd Avenue and 15th Street’s William Cordes was charged with stealing a pocketbook containing $33 after his 7-year-old daughter ratted him out.

On July 14, 1900 (and just a bit down the road) a member of the 5th Avenue fire station rescued a man from the top floor of a burning building at 517 3rd Avenue, between 12th and 13th Street.

Finally, a lucky 4-year-old little girl had an extremely close call with a trolley car on 7th Avenue and 12th Street.
