He’s Got A Dream: Grand Prospect Hall Owner Longs For Hotel

Despite a 2005 rezoning law that limits buildings in the area to around 6 stories, Michael Halkias hasn’t given up on an 11-story hotel/parking garage next to his Grand Prospect Hall, located on Prospect Avenue between 5th and 6th Avenue.

“Everybody knows we’re about making dreams come true — well, how about my dreams?” Halkias recently asked DNAinfo.

No permits or plans have been filed with the city, but DNA notes that Halkias now owns three of the seven properties that sit behind Grand Prospect Hall on 16th Street.
