Here’s What We Love About CAMBA (Partner)
We count ourselves lucky all the time to have an organization like CAMBA in our community, which is why we have partnered with them this year for the CAMBA Healthy Way 5K fundraiser. We hope you will join us in supporting them, and we’d like to tell you a bit more about the outstanding work CAMBA is doing throughout Brooklyn.
From housing women in need to providing job training to the under- and unemployed, to feeding hungry neighbors and offering a step up to small businesses and beyond, CAMBA has a hand in an incredibly diverse number of initiatives designed to improve the lives of others.
They’ve assisted New Yorkers with HIV and AIDS, built (and are in the process of building more) affordable and supportive housing that also happens to be green, offered after school programs that help working parents and keep kids creative, and provided tenants in need, immigrants, and others with essential legal services.
If you’re wondering how they show their love for us locally, just look around! Their after school programs are at PS 139 and PS 249, their Learning to Work (LTW) program is operated on the Erasmus Hall campus, one of their revolutionary supportive housing buildings is right on Crooke Avenue, neighborhood favorite LARK is their small business client, their Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry not only provided Thanksgiving meals for hundreds of local families (with unbelievable support from you, of course!)–it’s also where CAMBA runs their amazing, sustainable hydroponic farm—and they run a number of other helpful community programs out of their offices on Church and Flatbush Avenues. What’s not to love back?
If you’d like to help support CAMBA’s programs that help support so many of our neighbors, one fun way to do it is by signing up for the CAMBA Healthy Way 5k, scheduled for Sunday, May 4. You can register to participate here–but even if you are unable to attend the event, there are several other ways to help make it a success. Whichever way you choose, taking part in the Healthy Way 5k means you get to take some credit for helping others–and there’s not much more lovable than that.
