Here’s What Sister’s Restaurant, Which Will Open Within The Month, Looks Like
The sidewalk shed has come down and interior work is wrapping up at Sister’s (900 Fulton Street between Washington and Waverly Avenues), a forthcoming eatery by the crew at Park Slope’s Flatbush Farm. Neighbor Heather first got in touch last week to say she’d been told the restaurant would open by the end of August–a sentiment that was echoed by a worker on site when we passed by today.
“I spoke to the owner’s sister yesterday and she said it will be an early morning cafe type place with a bar and small plates in the evening,” Heather says. “There will be another room in the back for live music.”
A door left ajar revealed walls of dark painted brick and plenty of light marble tiles to match the restaurant’s exterior, plus an abundance of differently sized globe lamps. It’s unclear whether the restaurant (named after the hardware store which occupied 900 Fulton before it) will be restoring and making any use of the old Sister’s sign, which they’d left up until recently before making the cutout for the clock outside. The restaurant will be light and airy thanks to vaulted ceilings and a skylight that existed during the old Sister’s days, plus new cutouts on either side of the clock and several windowed panels up front.
According to the restaurant’s facade (and as Heather notes), they’ll be serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will be having some musical entertainment as well. We’re looking forward to more details as they come, and will keep you informed as best we can–and if you have any tips, make like Heather (thanks again!) and send ’em over to editor@bklyner.com.
