It’s less than a day to Thanksgiving Day 2016. If you’re sticking around the city to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, make sure to arrive early and bundled up. The forecast says there may be some rain, so keep that umbrella handy as well.

However, be sure to note that some city services will be closed through the long weekend.

Here’s what you need to know, via nyc.gov:

Thursday, November 24 / Thanksgiving Day:

  • CLOSED: Government offices, post offices, public libraries, courts, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • There is NO mail delivery.
  • Public schools are CLOSED Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25.
  • On Thursday, Alternate Side Parking and meters are suspended. No stopping, no standing, and no parking regulations are suspended except where those regulations are in effect 7 days a week or at all times.
  • There is NO garbage, recycling, or organics collection on Thanksgiving Day. If Thursday is your garbage or organics collection day, put your items out after 4pm on Thursday.
  • If Thursday is your recycling collection day, put your items out after 4pm on Wednesday, November 30. Your recycling will be collected on Thursday, December 1.
  • The Staten Island Ferry runs on a holiday schedule. Boats run every 30 minutes between 7am and 11pm. Normal service resumes after 11pm.
  • New York City subways and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule this Friday.

Friday, November 25 / Black Friday:

  • Public schools are still CLOSED.
  • OPEN: Government offices, including the DMV, libraries, and city and state courts.
  • Mail delivery follows a regular schedule.
  • IN EFFECT: Alternate Side Parking regulations and meters.

  • See above regarding Thursday garbage, organics, or recycling pick-up.
  • The Staten Island Ferry follows a normal weekday schedule.

Also, here are the Brooklyn streets that will be closed to traffic from Friday, November 25 through Sunday, November 27, according to the Department of Transit.

Have a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving!
