Help Wanted: Apply To Be A Brooklyn Librarian Or Attend An Upcoming Job Fair At Brooklyn College
If you have a Master of Library Science degree and are looking for a librarian job relatively close to home, go to Brooklyn Public Library’s (BPL) job fair this Wednesday, July 22 from 3-8pm at the Central Branch at Grand Army Plaza, armed with your resume, cover letter, and copy of your MLS diploma.
If you can’t make the job fair, then submit your cover letter and resume by email to job2180@bklynlibrary.org.
The new librarian positions are the result of BPL’s systemwide expansion of hours and increased demand from patrons. New hires will reportedly work with all ages, but particularly children and young adults.
Here in Clinton Hill Library, Emily Heath is finishing up her fourth month as children’s librarian and has already implemented numerous Summer Science Club and other educational kid’s programming — things other branches can look forward to in the near future, as well!
If you’re aiming for a job in a different industry, or need help preparing for job interviews and resume-building, then mark your calendar for next Tuesday, July 28’s 8th Annual Job Fair at Brooklyn College’s Student Union Building, hosted by State Senator Kevin Parker and Councilmember Jumaane Williams.
From 10am to 3pm, participants can take workshops in job readiness, interview techniques and training, resume building, green job building, and more.
