Demolition is coming soon to several local buildings, but neighbors can help preserve a bit of their past.

As part of the expansion project at New York Methodist Hospital, 16 residential buildings will be demolished beginning within the next few weeks, with work on that process expected to continue for about seven months. And as Preserve Park Slope noted, Methodist is inviting neighbors to save the good, historical bits from those buildings if they want and are able to.

From Methodist’s recent newsletter:

We are currently arranging to have decorative ironwork and any other exterior or interior worth preserving “adopted” by organization[s] or individuals that express an interest and ability to remove them.

You’ll have to act before Sunday, May 10, so if you’re interested, contact Methodist’s Vice President for Communications and External Affairs, Lyn Hill, at 718-780-5367 or lyh9001@nyp.org.
