Help Decide How Millions Of Dollars Will Be Spent On Local Projects At Upcoming Participatory Budgeting Neighborhood Assemblies

It’s that time of year again, where local residents are given a voice in how millions of dollars can be spent on neighborhood improvement projects in our area through the Participatory Budgeting process.

Once again, both our local City Councilmembers — Brad Lander in District 39 and Carlos Menchaca in District 38 — will be participating in the process, which gives you a say in how tax dollars are used. In past years, funding has been awarded to projects including renovations at local schools, greening of our streets, upgrades to equipment in libraries, and much more. What will neighbors suggest this year? The best way to find out — and to make your own suggestions — is to get involved.

The first neighborhood assemblies are starting up, and they’re a chance to learn more about how Participatory Budgeting works, and how you can be an active participant in the planning before projects are presented to residents in a vote.

  • Saturday, October 10, 10:30am-12pm: Sunset Park Recreation Center, 7th Avenue at 43rd Street
