Happy First Day Of Summer! Celebrate Today With Make Music New York All Over The Nabe

The weather certainly feels like the first day of summer, and the music will be playing in the streets to usher in warm temps and outdoor joys.

Make Music New York is taking place throughout the city today, where almost 1,200 concerts will happen on the sidewalks and in the parks. There’s a heavy concentration of performances all over our neighborhood. Here’s where you can find performances in our neighborhood.

Between 12pm-9pm, you’ll find music on 5th Avenue (between Dean and 18th Streets) anywhere you go. The list below gives you a breakdown of the where and when.

Stones/Water/Time/Breath
This site-specific piece invites audience members to help create a musical peformance by playing on the water with stones to create percussive sounds.

2:30–3:30pm, Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch, Grand Army Plaza
Guerrila Fanfare
From points in all directions, a group of percussionists and brass players will converge at the Plaza to create a unique wall of sound.

6-7 pm, Nethermead
Time-Machine_music
This electro-acoustic percussion piece from Brooklyn’s Loop 2.4.3, will takeover the Nethermead for a special performance.
