A 26-year-old man was shot in the leg while seated in a car outside the Nostrand Houses Saturday night, according to authorities.

Cops say the victim was parked on Batchelder Street, near Avenue V, around 7pm when an unidentified man ran up to the car and began firing. The victim reportedly sped away from the scene, with a bullet wound in his left leg, and was discovered by police a few blocks away — at Nostrand Avenue and Avenue Y.

Cops say the victim was sent to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

The incident is the second recorded shooting in the neighborhood this year, according to last week’s crime statistics. So far, none of the shootings have been fatal. However, homicides in the 61st Precinct, Sheepshead Bay’s station house, rose by 250 percent last year. The surge in murders, however, is partly related to a grisly double homicide at the Sheepshead Bay houses, which brought the number of murders up to five — compared to two the previous year.

Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein secured $2 million to go towards new security cameras and better lighting at the Sheepshead Bay/Nostrand Houses in order to improve safety at the NYCHA properties.
