Ground Floor Gallery, the space that’s been at 353 5th Street for about a year and a half, is celebrating its new fall season with the group show The Girls Next Door, which features six local female artists who you can meet at an opening event coming up this week and then at the gallery throughout the month.

“It’s a great opportunity for the locals to meet the extraordinary talent right next door,” says co-curator Krista Saunders.

The artists, who all live in the Park Slope and Gowanus area, are Cecile Chong, Melanie Fischer, Rachel Kroh, Colette Murphy, Elizabeth Reagh, and Liz Sweibel. Not only will you have the chance to meet them at the opening this Friday, September 12 from 6-8:30pm — an event that includes an informal artists’ salon at 7:30pm — but each artist will also spend a day in the gallery as its “Artist-in-Residence,” meeting and greeting neighbors throughout the month of September.
