Greenfield Wants To Bring Back Old Voting Machines

Politicians in Southern Brooklyn must be getting a lot of angry complaints from elderly constituents over the introduction of the new digitized voting machines that were rolled out during the 2012 presidential election.

Last month, we reported on State Senator Marty Golden’s petitioning of the Board of Elections to ditch the $60 million worth of new voting equipment in favor of the old lever machines. Now Councilman David Greenfield is joining the effort, introducing a resolution that would restore the dusty old voting apparatuses, according to a report by Metro.

Greenfield’s resolution calls for the use of lever voting machines for federal elections. Apparently, the new machines, which rely on optical scanners, have confused voters with their paper ballots, on which some have considered the tiny print illegible, and recounts have proven to take far more time than their predecessors – causing close elections to become hotly contested.
