Greenfield Encourages New Yorkers to

Save on Prescription Drugs

Visit or Call District Office for Free BigAppleRx Card

Brooklyn – Councilman David G. Greenfield wants residents to take advantage of savings available to everyone through New York City’s free BigAppleRx card, now available at his Borough Park district office. The discount card allows residents to save an average of 47 percent on prescription drugs at most pharmacies throughout the city and at 58,000 locations nationwide. It provides savings of 15 percent on average for brand name brand drugs, 53 percent on average for generic drugs, and is good for the entire family without limits.

“Anyone has filled a prescription knows of the sticker shock when the scrip is filled and the payment is due. This is an easy and free way to save every time you fill prescriptions without filling out any forms. I urge all families, seniors and anyone who wants to save money on their next prescription to obtain a card before their next trip to the pharmacy. In many cases, the savings are substantial and can really make a difference in these tough times,” said Greenfield.

The BigAppleRx card doesn’t expire and can be used for some over-the-counter medications such as smoking cessation aids and diabetic supplies with a valid prescription. It can also be used by Medicare Part D Participants on prescriptions in the “donut hole” phase when you must pay the full cost of medications until you reach the out-of-pocket minimum. In addition, savings can be applied to mail order prescriptions by downloading a form at BigAppleRx.com.

To price your prescription or locate a participating pharmacy, visit BigAppleRx.com or call 311 or 1-800-697-6974. Stop by Councilman Greenfield’s district office at 4424 45th Street (corner of 16th Avenue) in Borough Park or call (718) 853-2704 to obtain a free card.

City Councilman David G. Greenfield represents Council District 44, which includes Borough Park, as well as parts of Midwood and Bensonhurst.
