The Gravesend toddler’s gruesome death has been reclassified as a homicide, following an examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Salvatore Lucchesse, 24, was indicted on December 9, 2016 for beating his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son, Jaden Jordan, effectively to death, according to acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Lucchesse was charged with one count of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. These charges are likely to be upgraded now.

The toddler was brought to Coney Island Hospital on November 28, covered in feces, and with injuries to his skull, kidneys, and liver. He was transported to New York Presbyterian-Colombia in Manhattan where he was put on life support. He was taken off life support and pronounced dead on December 5.
