Applications have been filed to demolish the two-and-a-half story wood frame home currently occupying 2272 82nd Street in Gravesend and to replace it with a three-story residential dwelling.

The demolition application was filed in late August, the construction application at the end of September.

New building permits call for three off-street parking spots and a total of three apartments spread over 4,986 square feet. The architect of record is the Brooklyn-based Design Studio Associates.

While three-stories is no record-breaker, it will set the structure out as one of the taller buildings on 82nd Street, a block dominated by stand-alone two-story homes of varying style.

The application is one of many for residential development in Gravesend this fall.

The home is close to an array of buses, and is only a few blocks from the Bay Parkway D train station.

While a permit has been approved for the demolition of the current structure, the new building’s application has, as of last week, been disapproved.
