Grand Opening Window: 1 Week
There are lies, there are damn lies, and there’s commercial signage.
Congratulations to Yogurberry, which had its grand opening May 18 of this year. It’s safe to take down the sign.
If there’s no statute of limitations on “grand opening” signs, there should be one. It’s like the perpetually “going out of business” electronics stores that line 5th Avenue near the Empire State Building. Gains in tourist traffic are offset by a loss in credibility among locals. It’s an exchange vendors can risk in Midtown Manhattan, but one Park Slope shopkeepers should be wary of.
On the other hand, it might be a simple oversight. The corporate website doesn’t yet recognize the existence of New York locations.
